Beginners

Selby Archers run several courses during the year for people who are interested in taking up archery, or who just want to try it to see if they like it!

All equipment is provided and you get tuition from the club’s Archery GB Qualified Coaches.

The coaches teach you the correct way to shoot as well as archery safety and etiquette.

The course is informal and very much “hands-on”. There are some initial administration and health and safety issues to cover and we have to get you equipped with a suitable bow and arrows. This is then followed by the tutors showing you how to shoot safely, and ongoing help and advice on your style and technique as you are shooting.

There will also be talks on parts of the bow, how to purchase your own equipment, and information about Selby Archers club and Archery GB membership if you decide to continue.

After the course and Archery equipment hire

After the beginners’ course you will be able to become a full member of Selby Archers.

After you have completed the beginners’ course and become a member of Selby Archers you don’t have to rush out and purchase your own equipment if you don’t want to. Selby Archers have a range of beginners’ archery equipment that you can hire for a very low cost.

Costs

Adults (over 18): £60
Juniors (8-18): £60

The course fees get you 6 two hour sessions held on Monday evenings

Minimum age to attend the beginners course is 8 years old.
Juniors (8-18 years old) must be accompanied by a responsible adult who stays for the duration of each session.

As the course is feature packed you need to be able to commit to the full course, missing a session would be detrimental and re-arranging sessions is not possible.
